被遗留的卵泡 The leftover follicles
在超声波的检查下发现自己的卵巢藏着很多一粒粒的黑色珠子.
这些一粒粒的黑色珠子是什么？
那些是未发育成熟的小卵泡，不能正常排出卵巢，不能排卵，所以被遗留在卵巢里，若有超过20个卵泡，就会被诊断为多囊卵巢综合征 (PCOS)。
什么原因导致小卵泡未能发育成熟而留在卵巢?
过高的雄激素会导致卵泡无法发育变成成熟的卵子，未发育成熟的卵泡不能排出卵巢，所以造成荷尔蒙失调，月经延后，多毛，痤疮等。
肥胖有可能导致胰岛素分泌过多，从而刺激更多的雄激素分泌，造成卵泡无法发育成熟。所以，一般PCOS患者都有肥胖问题，都会要求控制体重来改善月经。
研究发现基因遗传是PCOS的原因之一，但不是绝对。
遗留在卵巢里的卵泡会造成什么后果？
-卵泡被遗留意味着缺乏卵子排出，因此受孕几率会降低。
-没有卵子排出会导致荷尔蒙失调，子宫壁不能正常增厚，导致月经咽喉。

Why are these follicles left in the ovary?
The follicles grow and build up fluid, but the eggs do not get released and left in the ovary.
Causes of PCOS:
Higher androgen levels prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg during menstrual cycle, and can cause delayed menstruation, extra hair growth and acne.
Many women with PCOS have obesity and insulin resistance. High level of Insulin stimulate secretion of androgen, which lead to anovulation.
Certain genes might linked to PCOS.
What happens if the follicles left in the ovaries?
-No fertilisation since there is no egg released.
-Hormonal imbalance leads to delayed menstruation.
